The National Arbor Day Foundation's mission is to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. The Foundation just updated its hardiness map, and the changes since 1990 are dramatic.

Chris Clark is working on a book on Joshua Trees, and the data for the climate tolerances of that species, and the climate shift in its range, and itslack of dispersal mechanisms , all lead to the unescapable conclusion that the Joshua Tree will soon go extinct unless propagated. Millions of acres of farmed and ranched lands, and the families that work them, are playing for keeps in the same higher-than-historic stakes climate lottery.
