Nairobi and Davos

In a week's time the European Management Symposium will be held again in Davos, as it has been, with one exception, since Klaus Schwab organized the first symposia 1971. The name used now is the World Economic Forum.

No matter what happens at Davos, agricultural production in Africa will suffer disproportionately more, due to changes in weather patterns, consequent to Global Warming, and the percentage of African agriculture which is rainfall dependent, than anywhere else in the world.

Which is why the meeting that began today in Nairobi, the World Social Forum, is more pressing, more urgent, more real, than next week's meeting in Davos. Global warming can be stopped, in decades, but the collapse of regional agriculture is happening today.

Because "a better world is possible", and necessary, and wars and climate change have left millions without food and shelter.
