Final stage of Vienna deal in sight: Amirabdollahian

In a telephone conversation on Monday evening, Amirabdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hossein discussed various issues, from the Vienna talks to developments in Ukraine.

Congratulating the head of Iraqi diplomacy on the occasion of Nowruz, the Iranian foreign minister reviewed various areas of relations, including bilateral relations.

He also outlined Tehran’s view on a delay in holding a new round of talks with Saudi Arabia.

Regarding the Vienna talks on lifting sanctions, Amirabdollahian said the negotiating parties were close to finalizing an agreement.

He added that Iran has proposed some initiatives to the United States through the EU coordinator regarding the remaining very important issues.

Iran’s foreign minister said it is now up to the United States to show its alleged good faith, the foreign ministry’s website reported.

“We are determined to reach a good, solid and lasting agreement,” he noted, saying that Iran’s chief negotiator, Ali Baqeri, is in constant contact with EU coordinator Enrique More.

Amirabdollahian finally referred to the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Pakistan and called on the body to focus on issues that help build solidarity and unity among Muslims.
