In comments during a televised interview on Friday evening, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani unveiled plans to field two advanced destroyers.

The commander said that the production process of destroyers “Zagros” and “Damavand-2” has progressed and the two ships will be launched in the near future.

In June 2021, the Navy took delivery of the destroyer “Dena” and the minesweeper “Shahin” (Falcon).

Dena is the fourth Jamaran-class destroyer manufactured by the Department of Defense Naval Industries. It is equipped with various defense and attack systems, is designed for long ocean voyages, and is capable of detecting, tracking and hitting various air, surface and underwater targets.
