Senior Iranian, Qatari diplomats insist on strengthening bilateral ties

Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met on the sidelines of the 58th Security Conference in Munich.

During the talks, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of exemplary relations between the two parties, expressing the hope of an official visit to Qatar in the next two days by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to attend a meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). and strengthening reciprocal links will go very well.

The head of the Iranian diplomatic apparatus also referred to Iran’s humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and the need to help the Afghan people in order to overcome the current difficult situation, and exchanged views with his counterpart on the latest situation in Afghanistan.

Also on the agenda of the talks were discussions on regional issues, developments in the Persian Gulf region and the latest status of negotiations in Vienna, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry website.

The Qatari foreign minister, in turn, said Doha expects a state visit from the Iranian president and his entourage.

He also touched on plans for the visit and said Doha is ready to consider the trip as the basis for further improving mutual relations.

The senior Qatari diplomat also hailed the breakthroughs in the Vienna talks and said the outcome of these talks is vital for the region.

He also presented a report on the latest measures adopted by his country regarding the question of Afghanistan as well as on the ongoing talks between the two countries.
