Struggle with Occupiers Legitimate Palestinian Rights: Iranian Spokesperson
In a statement released on Saturday, Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned the Zionists’ repeated attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the brutal attacks by Israeli forces on worshipers and defenders of Palestinian holy sites.
The occupation and the occupiers are on the decline, and the struggle against the usurpers of al-Quds and Palestine is a natural, legitimate and legal right of the Palestinian people, he added.
The spokesperson referred to the escalating aggression and brutal actions of the Israeli apartheid regime in the occupied Palestinian territories, calling on nations, governments and regional and international organizations to help Palestinians defend themselves against the Zionist occupiers, the Foreign Ministry website reported.
Khatibzadeh also stressed the need for the unity of the Islamic world to defend Palestine and save Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He finally described the normalization of relations with the Israeli apartheid regime as one of the factors which encourage and intensify the violence of the Zionists in the occupied Palestinian territories.
On Thursday, Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem in al-Quds, injuring at least 16 Palestinians and arresting dozens.
Reported injuries included 14 broken bones caused by rubber bullets and tear gas suffocation.
Around 50 Palestinian men, including elderly people and children, were arrested and escorted out of the compound from Bab al-Silsila (Chain Gate).
Incursions by settlers under police protection into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound resumed after a 10-day hiatus during the final days of Ramadan, during which tensions increased.
